Podcaster

Once again, I've ended up on the wrong side of the microphone!

An avid podcast listener for years, I'd always hoped to put my audio skills to use in podcast production. Despite being fortunate enough to get some editing work, most notably on a few episodes of the brilliant All Ears with Somewhere Soul, I didn't have enough of a portfolio to secure production opportunities.

So, in full 'build a studio in my garden' DIY spirit, I decided to make a podcast that I could produce and make a portfolio for myself!

Luckily, with my sister being an actor, I had a host at the ready, but it was a struggle to find a format we really liked. To cut a very long story short, I found myself agreeing to cohost the podcast, in a format focussed at being creatives in London.

Producing and editing the podcast has let me learn a lot about the prep and attention to detail required, not to mention how fast I am at editing now that I've got a fortnightly deadline!

Making Do

Having both moved to London to pursue creative careers, my sister, Amy, and I found ourselves asking why on earth we've chosen to do this to ourselves. The lack of money, time, stability and often inspiration made these chats increasingly frequent, and, once we'd got through the basic moans, surprisingly interesting!

We thought it would be interesting to chat to other creatives about why they make their art, in the hopes that we can figure it out for ourselves, and maybe help some others in the same boat as us!

Our first episode went live in July 2025, and we have since been releasing episodes fortnightly. This has been a really great experience and we've spoken to some really interesting creators, and have lots more lined up, so be sure to follow the podcast wherever you listen. And, of course, follow our socials too!
